Not all cowboys in the old west used guns you know. A little known fact is that many of them use catapults to keep their cattle in check - as you'll realize when you play Slingshot Cowboy.
This fun free iPhone game charges you with the task of hitting as many cows as you can with rocks fired from a slingshot. You control your weapon by pulling back on the elastic with your finger then releasing. To aim higher and reach the cows that are furthest away you need to tilt your phone up to raise the trajectory. If you find the controls a little difficult at first then try the 'Target' mode, which makes things easier by showing you where the missile will go.
You score points in Slingshot Cowboy according to how much damage you do to the cow and the distance that the cow is away from you. You can only progress to the next level once you've filled the points meter at the top. There is enough variety between levels to keep Slingshot Cowboy enjoyable for some time, and I especially like the Stampede mode between each main level, which sees you trying to fend off a series of bulls that come hurtling towards you at high speed.
In terms of its presentation, Slingshot Cowboy has bright, cartoon style graphics with some fun sound effects thrown in. Unfortunately, the Country music soundtrack that loops through the game becomes very annoying very quickly.
Overall though, Slingshot Cowboy is an enjoyable and highly addictive game for wannabe rustlers of all ages.
